MaryJanesBud Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to our F.A.Q. section. Here you will find answers to the common questions asked about our collective.
Who is MaryJanesBud.com? - Top
MaryJanesBud.com is a medical marijuana delivery service that delivers medical marijuana to all of Ventura County. Our main goal is to provide friendly, private, professional, and compassionate care-giving straight to your home or office.
Specifically, we are a medical marijuana cooperative whose purpose is to coordinate and facilitate the collective or cooperative cultivation of marijuana for medical purposes by and between members, and only by and between members, in strict compliance with California law, and to perform any and all acts that may be authorized, required or permitted to be done in accordance with California law to further the foregoing.
What are the legalities regarding medical marijuana? - Top
In 1996, the voters of California passed Proposition 215, also known as the Compassionate Use Act. Within California, the Act allows for the recommendation by a physician for the medical use of marijuana by a patient, and the cultivation, transportation and use of marijuana for medical purposes by patients and caregivers. The Compassionate Use Act exempts patients, caregivers and physicians who recommend the use of marijuana for medical purposes from criminal laws, punishment, or the denial of any rights or privileges. California Senate Bill (SB) 420 (Chapter 875, Statutes of 2003) was written into law in December of 2003 (see California Health and Safety Code, Article 2.5, Sections 11362.7 through 11362.83) and is part of California law to this date.
MaryJanesBud.com adhere's to California state law very closely.
What is required to register? - Top
To register as a member you must have a legitimate medical reason for the use of medical marijuana. This use of marijuana must be confirmed by a CA licensed physician who has determined that your health would benefit from the use of marijuana in the treatment of your illness. You must obtain a written, dated and signed recommendation from this physician. The physician's recommendation is considered valid for 1 year or the date which has been stated on the written recommendation; whichever is shorter as our members must be in regular medical contact with their physicians.
Ventura county provides ID cards to medical marijuana users. To obtain a Ventura county ID, please visit their Medical Marijuana Identification Program website for complete information. The ID card is NOT required to utilize MaryJanesBud.com's services, although we highly recommend it as it confirms to any law enforcement agent, official or representative of any authority that you have a state confirmed recommendation from a physician.
What does it cost? - Top
There is no cost to register as a new member and our delivery service is absolutely free! How much medical marijuana may I carry on me legally at one time? - Top
This answer may vary as the "quantity possessed by the patient or the primary caregiver, and the form and manner in which it is possessed, should be reasonably related to the patient's current medical needs," including transportation. What is the difference between consuming Edibles vs smoking Marijuana? - Top
When an edible is consumed, it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 4-5 hours for the effects to set in. The challenge then is knowing the correct amount to consume for the desired medical effect. When smoked, the effects set in almost immediately, so it is easy to judge how much you need. However after consuming an edible, some patients have reportedly been too impatient, and they think they need more. While the argument is that its impossible to overdose on MMJ, the effects of eating too much cannabis are not pleasant. You may feel sick, confused, unable to move or talk, and your coordination may be heavily affected. These effects may last a long time, much longer than when smoked. It is therefore important not to consume too much. Start with a low dose, and increase it the next time, if needed. Experiment to find the right amount. If you consume too much, a high dose of vitamin C (200mg or more) may help to make you feel better.

What is the difference between a Sativa & Indica? - Top
"Indica and Sativa are the two main varieties of the cannabis plant used as medicine. There are many strains that are crosses of those two varieties. Within each of those varieties and crosses there are a huge number of individual strains, each with a different cannabinoid profile and effect. According to anecdotal evidence, the Indica strains are a relaxant, effective for anxiety, pain, nausea, appetite stimulation, sleep, muscle spasms and tremors, among other symptoms. The Sativa strains are more of a stimulant, effective in appetite stimulation, relieving depression, migraines, pain and nausea. We are now aware of specific strains that are effective for specific conditions and symptoms." - Hilary Black of the British Columbia Compassion Society
Indica: Indicas originally come from the hash producing countries of the world like Afghanistan, Morocco, and Tibet. Indica buds will be thick and dense, with flavors and aromas ranging from pungent skunk to spicy and fruity. Indicas generally create a body high that is relaxing and medicinal. Indica has higher CBD than THC equals a much heavier, sleepy type of high, that is good for a variety of medical problems.
Sativa: Sativa's originally come from Colombia, Mexico, Thailand and Southeast Asia. They have flavors that range from earthy to sweet and fruity. Sativas have a higher THC than CBD count which equals a more cerebral, soaring type of high. Sativas have a energetic high which can stimulate brain activity and may even produce hallucinations. They can be very beneficial for people with depression and anxiety.
Hybrid: Hybrids are created to retain certain desired characteristics from Indica and Sativa plants. By altering the ratio of sativa and indica influences, growers can breed hybrids for a certain high, flavor, and aroma. Most marijuana varieties available today are hybrids as they bring together the best of both Indica and Sativa marijuana characteristics. Hybrids are created by crossing and breeding different strains to create a new hybrid strain.
